In the response the Government has laid down their views on the actions that were put to them by the roundtable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This response has come from an original <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/menopause-transition-effects-on-womens-economic-participation\">report that was produced on the economic factors that are impacted by menopause in the workforce<\/a>, that then led to the formation of the UK Menopause Taskforce. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This original report showed how Menopausal women are a growing and significant demographic in the workplace with up to 47% of the UK workforce experiencing menopause transition during their working lives. Many of them may struggle to manage the psychological and physiological changes their bodies are going through and a quarter are likely to experience debilitating symptoms. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This has huge potential consequences for mid-life women\u2019s quality of working life and performance at work with negative effects that can include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reduced engagement with work <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reduced job satisfaction <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reduced commitment to the organisation <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reduced emotional resilience<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Higher sickness absence <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An increased desire to leave work altogether. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cipd.co.uk\/Images\/line-manager-guide-to-menopause_tcm18-95174.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understanding and supporting women<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as they transition towards and through the menopause is potentially one of the most vital contributions to workplace wellbeing and retention that an organisation can make. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/menopause-transition-effects-on-womens-economic-participation\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> also shows how a varied and personalised approach to supporting women in the workplace is vital for success.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt recommends changing organisational cultures; compulsory equality and diversity training; providing specialist advice; tailored absence policies; flexible working patterns for mid-life women; and fairly low cost environmental changes. The overall emphasis is on a variety of approaches to menopause transition at work, to cater for women\u2019s differing experiences.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>A personalised approach to menopause support<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We wholeheartedly endorse this personalised approach to menopause support and to any steps, large or small, taken by individuals and organisations to advance the support of wellbeing in the workplace. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Which is why we are so delighted and excited to be signatories to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellbeingofwomen.org.uk\/campaigns\/menopausepledge\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wellbeing pledge<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; a recent initiative by the organisation <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wellbeingofwomen.org.uk\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wellbeing for women<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span> <\/p>\n<h3>Sign the Menopause Workplace Pledge<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even more importantly than feeling like we are playing our own small part is the presence of so many large organisations as supporters and signatories on the list.
